Tips for El Azteco

August 09, 2012

The complaints about hot sauce too hot are ridiculous. You go to a Mexican restaurant and you should be prepared for that. I enjoy the chips and cheese and the sopappilla compuesta. This place doesn't serve Gringo food. Maybe some complainers would rather go to restaurants that are really tex mex not real mexican. The service can be bad at times and at times at the East Lansing location the food wasn't as good but there is nothing that I can get where I live near Clarkston that compares. Today my husband is working in Lansing and guess what he is bringing home for dinner. Adios amigos.

Lansing's best Mexican food!. Greatest mexican food in town, the state and anywhere. They make the best salsa, sometimes it is very hot. YUM! Great margaritas and other drinks if you like that. Not expensive and well worth it. There is a reason they have been around so long, it is awesome. Both locations are great but the Lansing location will give you free chips.

WHO GAVE THIS PLACE 4 STARS??!?!!. I don't know about the west lansing location, but the east lansing location is sick. The waitstaff are either stoned or stupid and the food is gross. Everything is microwaved and way overpriced. Who wants to pay $17 for a small pitcher of sour margaritas? I dont know how this restaurant has stayed in business all these years.

Eat on the roof!. Best Mexican food in Lansing? Yes. Fantastic Mexican food? Not so much. Unfortunately, this area just doesn't have a breadth of Mexican restaurants. When you're here and have a hankering for Mexican, El Azteco is by far the best choice, but it may leave your craving not entirely satisfied. Eat on the roof on a nice day and have some of their deilsh margaritas, and it almost feels like you're on vacation!

Misconceptions and/or Bad Recipes. My wife and I ate at El Azteco. We went there the first time after receiving recommendations, but we were disappointed by the quality of the food. After a few months we decided to give it a second chance and went to another location, but it wasnt good there either. The dishes have way too much cheese, and the blandness of the food reminded me of hospital food. I am sorry guys, but you need to go to Mexico and taste real Mexican food, them come back here and fix your recipes. I understand that you had to accommodate a more U.S.-style (e.g. Taco Bell) way of eating Mexican food, but you have to realize that there are many people looking for more authentic, traditional Mexican cuisine. You don't have that at all.

Typical Food. Maybe I'm biased because I come from Texas, but I was not impressed with El Azteco. When I moved to Lansing, I had more than one person tell me it was the best mexican food. The food reminded me of Don Pablo's. While there I had the beef and cheese enchiladas and there was nothing overly spectacular about them. However, I did get to eat on the roof, and that was fun.

el az rules. We have been eating El Az for 26 years and they rule. The service is getting better at the West Lansing store.
