Tips for Exchange of Lansing
"EXCUSE ME. EXCUSE ME. PARDON ME...". This place is over rated! it came recommended by several people but after a few visits i just do not see what the appeal is. it is basically a hole in the wall with an up stairs. It is over priced and i thought the employees and most customers were stuck up and snobbish. I would recommend this place to n one and would even go out of my way to discourage a visit. true i have been there more than once, however, i wanted to give it a fair chance and it lost anyway!
Meeting Place. I really didn't care for the place at all... we had a gathering up stairs, the food served was 'light' in quantity and I didn't care for the stairway up (circle). Very smokey. I think Lansing has a lot better places to consider.
The Hotness. While most downtown bars have their "nights," the Exchange buzzes with all the energy of its trading floor namesake 7 days a week. The crowd blends urban chic with business-like cool, the waitresses and bartenders are the best-looking girls in town, and the drinks aren't that expensive. Plus they've got this really pretty upstairs area - it feels like someone's really cool loft and is a great place to spend a Saturday night (if you can get a seat). We might go check out a new place once in a while, but my girls and I always end up back at the Exchange!
Flambouyant. its a gay bar so if you dont like guys to be hitting on you, and you are a guy, then I suggest not stepping foot in this place. If you like sausage then get there ASAP
great ambience and music, excellent ecape from EL. The Exchange is definitely my favorite bar in the area. They have great live jazz (with no cover) on the weekends and an awesome upstairs lounge perfect for relaxing and socializing with friends. If you want to get away from the regular, tiresome, meat-market scene, this is the place to be.
GREAT place to be. I think The Exchange is a great bar. The atmosphere is great. Every time i have been there, there has been a live band and they are always good.
Skip it and go somewhere else. To many stuck up people, employees, spend your time, money somewhere else!
Not The Exchange.... The jazz band was very good, but women there were very stuck up. They acted like they were looking at you, but were actually looking over your shoulder at the man in the suit, who by the way was already with a woman. If it was conversation you are looking for, or more, do not expect to find it at The Exchange!
One of the gems of Lansing. The Exchange is a great escape from the typical college, frat, sorority crowd, offering good drinks that are worth the price. They normally have a live band on the weekends and the upstairs area is the best kept secret in town. It is sometimes crowded, but is worth the atmosphere of beautiful people.
Not Very Friendly. I visited the Exchange after work on a Friday and there weren't many people there. The other patrons were not very friendly to a lone girl sitting at the bar having a drink. The bartender was not talkative either and seemed to not relate to the mostly legislative workers at the bar.
